Indeed, Comet was a hit for its size and fifty-mile per hour speeds as much as it was for its T-shaped layout, which tapped into the potential of the terrain at the edge of the park. To the delight of Hersheypark fans and thrill lovers in the Mid-Atlantic, Comet was completed in time for the 1946 season at Hersheypark. With the Wild Cat out of the way, construction began on the new wild ride. And that name? Comet - a word that would soon be associated with Hersheypark for thrill seekers, like how "chocolate" is with the name Hershey. Those plans called for a new claim to fame for Hersheypark: the tallest, largest coaster ever seen in the Pennsylvania region, at eight-and-a-half stories in height, and with some 3,360 wooden track feet to its name. Revamping the coaster was ruled out, so the wooden structure came down with plans for something bigger.

Later on, Joy Ride was renamed Wild Cat (not to be confused with Hershey's 1996 However, as years passed and newer rides came to other parks, Wild Cat eventually lost its ferocious bite. That tale began when Milton Hershey decided that it was time to bring in some serious thrills to his leisure destination, and thus, Herbert Schmeck and the Philadelphia Toboggan Company erected Joy Ride, an impressive wooden coaster for its day. I'd still recommend riding this if you're at Hersheypark as it is a solid ride. The story of Hersheypark's Comet might be said to begin twenty-three years before the wooden terrain coaster that Pennsylvania thrill seekers today enjoy actually opened. And due to the ride's location, it gets a long line and doesn't have that good of operations. While this is a fun wooden coaster and I'm happy that it lasted all these years, I have to admit that it's my least favorite of the three Hersheypark Woodies. Then we go through two last bunny hops before rising into the curved brake run with the roof over our heads. Then we make a turn under the ride's structure. While going through these, we seem to go through some sort of curve.

Then we go through a series of tiny little bunny hops. However, instead of dropping out of it, we curve to the ground in a sort of curve drop. We then go through a couple really small bunny hops at an angle before rising up into a small turnaround.

During this part of the ride, you're surrounded by trees. But then we do some sort of funky curve to the right type of drop. While it's not an amazing turnaround with extreme laterals, it's still enjoyable and provides a nice view of Hersheypark. Now this isn't the "OMFG!!!" type of bunny hop that you would find on Phoinex or Coaster.

We then drop back down and are off on our way again. During this turnaround, we get a nice view of Hersheypark and of Great Bear. However, most people don't notice because we're going too fast and having too much fun. While we're at the bottom of the first drop, we cross the river in Hersheypark. While we don't get any airtime, it's still a nice fun first drop. Once we reach the top, we get a nice view of SuperDooperLooper if we look to our left. After getting in the trains and lowering the buzz bars, we're off! We roll through a turn (I think) before heading straight for the lifthill.
